Banner Thunderbird Hosts Educational Community Lectures in October

GLENDALE, Ariz. (Sept. 25, 2015) – Banner Thunderbird Medical Center invites the community to participate in new educational events this October that provide support and creative outlooks for cancer patients.  All events are free and located at the non-profit hospital, 5555 W. Thunderbird Road in Glendale.
In Living Color
1 - 2:30 p.m. on Thursdays, Oct. 1, 15 and 22
Conference Room 3A (Main hospital, Tower A)
In Living Color is a free, art-themed support group for anyone that has been diagnosed with cancer. Art expert Paula Artac leads the class encouraging participant expression through a variety of art techniques and materials. No art experience is necessary and participants are welcome regardless of stage in treatment or recovery. Space is limited; to register, please call (602) 230-2273 (CARE).

•    Tai Chi Relaxation
5:30 - 6:45 p.m. on Thursdays, Oct. 1, 8, 15 and 22
First floor – Outpatient Surgery Waiting Area
Tai Chi classes are offered to Banner Thunderbird Cancer patients and their caregivers.  Tai Chi is a wonderful complement to medical treatment, reduces stress and promotes self-healing. To register, please call (602) 230-2273 (CARE).

5:30 - 6:45 p.m. cancer patients and their caregivers are invited to weekly support groups,
located on the first floor in the Quality Management/CPAI office, call Patricia DeBruhl at (602) 865-5450 for directions.

Banner Estrella hosts Teen Health Event

 


PHOENIX (Sept. 29, 2015) – Banner Estrella Medical Center will be hosting a free event designed for teens and their parents who want real answers on important health topics. “Teen Health Event” is open to teens ages 13 to 17 accompanied by a parent or guardian. 
Participants will be divided into two groups – parents and teens - for half of the day, allowing for a safe learning environment customized to the appropriate audience. A variety of topics will be covered by health and community experts, including:
•    Internet safety
•    Healthy relationships 
•    Reproductive health
•    Impaired driving: distracted and drunk driving awareness

The free event will be from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7 in the Conference Center at the nonprofit hospital, 9201 W. Thomas Road in Phoenix. Space is limited; reserve your seat by calling (602) 230-2273 (CARE). Sign-in for registered attendees will begin at 9 a.m. Lunch will be provided.
